Festus Alenkhe re-elected Edo Red Cross Chairman

Benin City: Comrade Festus Alenkhe has been re-elected Chairman of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Edo State branch. The election which saw 13 positions occupied was conducted at the end of the 2019 annual general meeting (AGM) of the branch, with the National President of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Elder Chief Bolaji Anani Akpan in attendance.

Speaking with newsmen after the election, Comrade Alenkhe thanked members for finding him worthy of being re-elected as the State Chairman.

"When I was first elected four years ago as Chairman, I promised to change the physical and architectural landscape of the State secretariate; today, is a dream come true.

"I also promised put a stop to the flood problem that have bedeviled the State headquarters for many years. The damaged cordial relationship between the Red Cross and the State government was restored and backlog of government subventions paid.

"We also hosted the South/South zonal camp meeting. We even diversify into organising Junior Red Cross camp meeting", said the re-elected Chairman.

Also speaking, the National President of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Elder Chief Bolaji Anani Akpan commended the Benin branch of the Red Cross, for their developmental stride despite the fact that they are not being supported by external partners.

"Edo State branch has show that the only way forward is for all to walk together as a team. They turned what they have to support themselves. I have found the State chairman- Festus Alenkhe, to be a straight forward man", the National President said.

On his part, the branch Secretary, Mr. Wilson Ekhomogiazin said the Edo State branch and the National headquarters had good and cordial  working relationship. He said the management was always already to do the right thing. He thanked the State Chairman for his servant leadership style.
