Our correspondent learnt that the Oamens, who hailed from Edo State, had been living in the estate for over 15 years. Over 4,700 migrants rescued off Libya coast – Italian coastguard

Over 4,700 migrants have been rescued off the coast of Libya as they tried to reach Europe , an Italian coast guard disclosed. Tens of thousands of people, mainly from Africa and the Middle East, have tried to cross the Mediterranean this year, often dangerously packed into small vessels unsuitable for the voyage. A statement by the coastguard said that one woman was found dead in the rescue mission on Saturday, although no further details were given on the cause of death. According to the statement, the migrants were evacuated to safety in a 20 rescue operations involving numerous vessels which ferried the migrants from rubber boats and barges. In the same development, another 335 people were picked up as part of a rescue mission coordinated by Greece and directed to a port in Italy to disembark. The rescues were carried out by vessels from the Italian coastguard and navy, humanitarian agency Doctors Without Borders, and the Malta-based Migrant Offshore Aid Station.

Warrant to Arrest Bukola Saraki Missing By Our Correspondent

The Police had on Sunday said they were yet to receive a bench warrant to arrest the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, adding that Saraki would be arrested once the order was served on the Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase. The Code of Conduct Tribunal had on Friday ordered the arrest of Bukola Saraki on alleged falsification in declaring his assets. The Force Public Relations Officer, Olabisi Kolawole said the Police were yet to get the warrant. According to Olabisi, "We have not received the warrant, you know today is Sunday and the courts don't work on weekends. So, it's likely that the order will get to us on Monday".

At least three persons were confirmed killed while others sustained injuries when the Joint Task Force (Operation Pulo Shield), engaged suspected militants in a gun duel in Delta State, The Cable reports.     According to a statement by Alani Okunlola, the commander of the Joint Task Force (Operation Pulo Shield) on Thursday, the 10th of September, no fewer than three persons have been confirmed dead with others sustaining varying degrees of injuries during a gun duel between the security force and suspected militants in Delta state.   The operation took place in Benigboye community of Burutu Local Government Area of the state on September 5 during which a suspect allegedly arrested with various arms and ammunition was paraded.   “My men raided a militant camp in Benigboye. The Department of State Services has commenced the screening of ministerial nominees sent to it by President Muhammadu Buhari, The PUNCH has learnt on Wednesday.   Muhammadu Buhari   Punch reports that the Department of State Security, DSS have started the screening of ministerial nominees sent to it by President Muhammadu Buhari. Media reports have it that about 20 nominees have been vetted by the DSS since the background check process commenced. Buhari sent in a total of 36 names for security checks. The identities of the nominees remain a top secret pending on an official declaration by the president.   The DSS operatives working on the nominees are also looking up on their records with anti-graft agencies and people of integrity are needed to serve the nation. One of Punch correspondents gathered that people on the list included mainly those who worked with Buhari when he was in the military and during his stint as the chairman of the defunct Petroleum Trust Fund.
