Ize-Iyamu condemns assassination attempt on Edo former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Pst. Osagie Ize-Iyamu, Esq A former Secretary to Edo State Government and a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pst. Osagie Ize-iyamu, Esq, penultimate weekend, condemned the recent assassination attempt on the former Edo State Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Hon. Henry Idahagbon. Pst Ize-Iyamu made the condemnation during a solidarity visit to Idahagbon’s office in Benin. He noted that Idahagbon is the immediate past Attorney-General and one of those who started the campaign for Godwin Obaseki, hence the government is expected to be in the forefront of condemning the act but unfortunately the government is silent. “Those who did this must have a serious rethink because once they begin to spray bullets at a house, you know the possibility of stray bullet touching people is quite high and I think that we must thank God that nobody died. “If ther

Obaseki: I’ll deal with Oshiomhole if he keeps disturbing us in Edo

Godwin Obaseki,  Edo state governor, has vowed to deal with Adams Oshiomhole, national chairmanI of the All Progressives Congress (APC), if he keeps “disrupting activities” of Edo APC. Oshiomhole, who was instrumental to the emergence of Obaseki, fell out with the governor shortly before he declared his reelection bid. Their misunderstanding reached its height last year when the Edo house of assembly was divided along their loyalists. Lawmakers loyal to the governor had taken oath of office secretly, leaving out their colleagues in the camp of Oshiomhole. Stakeholders in the APC did not succeed in their bid to reconcile the governor and his estrange benefactor. Speaking at a meeting of chairmen of the APC in the 18 local government areas in Edo, Obaseki said he is prepared to “show Oshiomhole” that he is the governor of the state. He also directed the party chairmen to deal with any person or group carrying out activities that are not in the interest of the state

Why Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu Will be Good as APC Flagbearer By Victor Osehobo Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu A few years ago, I walked into his House on an invitation and the task was to leave where I was at the time and come join his campaign team. He was certain that the man I was campaigning for or supporting was not going to get the party's nod as flagbearer.  Though initially I was sceptical, I did pack my load few days later to join him.  I believe Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu was and is still committed to serving Edo because he loves the state. He talks glowingly about Edo state and believes things can be done differently and even better. Except for a brief moment of doubt about his next move as this year drew near, I have remained with him ever since. But once you’ve worked or become close with Ize-Iyamu, not for the money, the fact remains, you are certain of the journey he has embarked upon and its destination. There are no corners to cut. The man drives with confidence w

Amotekun and the Unity of Yorubas  By Chidiebere Nwobodo  In the midst of the grandstanding, shenanigans, hullabaloos and controversy plaguing the Amotekun security initiative, one thing any keen observer should have noticed, is the impregnable unity of purpose amongst the Yorubas. All the stratas making up Odua nation are solidly behind the Amotekun Project. The governors put aside their partisan differences to bring this initiative to limelight. It is worthy of note that out of the six governors of Southwestern states, not even one has openly kicked against the outfit. It's reassuring! a great sign of hope for southern Nigeria.  Mind you, five governors out of six are among leaders of the APC (ruling party), yet they didn't allow their connection to the center jeopardize this timely idea to safeguard their people. I practically "fell in love" with Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State after watching his brave and pragmatic analysis on Channels TV yesterday
