African-American Cultural Phenomenon Applauds Oredo LGA for Promoting Film and Artistic Initiatives of Historical Significance

The largest, and one of the most globally acknowledged African-ancestry focused cultural agencies, in the United States, the Pan African Film and Arts Festival (PAFF), has selected Oredo Local Government Area among the 20 local councils in Nigeria, to benefit from various collaborative efforts being outlined by PAFF in its 2020 international programs.
In a statement by the Deputy Coordinator for Africa Programs of the organization, Ms. Aminat Nicol , she remarked that ‘’ Oredo Local Government was selected from the 774 local governments in Nigeria particularly for the council’s encouragement of film makers and artists with inclinations for producing historically conscious materials’’.
Ms. Nicol further observed that Oredo , especially with Benin-City as its headquarters , naturally attracted the attention of the Film and Arts Festival as a location that was globally famed for the mastery of its indigenous artists and the lure of its inspiring history. In addition, PAFF’s Deputy Coordinator remarked that the ,Skills Acquisition Center, being run by Oredo LGA was very suitable for conducting collaborative training programs in film making and promotion of creative works around the world. Ms. Aminat stated that the Executive Director of the international festival, Mr. Ayuko Babu ,’’ was committed to expanding opportunities, particularly for film makers and artists on the African continent ,to emerge on the global stage with culturally- emancipating and black-humanity dignifying films and arts.’’
The Pan-African Film Festival (PAFF) which was founded in 1992 has been extensively referenced and profiled in several major U.S media. The long-time General Manager of PAFF and a well-known Judge at various international film festivals in Europe and Africa, Ms. Olatunji Asantewa , stated that the festival was determined to empower film makers and artists from Africa and the Black Diaspora.

The Los Angeles, California based Film and Arts Festival expressed the hope that the Oredo LGA Chairman, Hon .Ebvareke Jenkins Osunde’’ will continue with the remarkable on-going efforts for enhanced skills, participation and employment opportunities, particularly for Oredo youths and women, in the global creative industry.’’
