Federated Chapel of Edo NUJ gets new Executives

  Newly elected Chairman of Federated Chapel- Mercy Onyenwenli receiving handshake from Festus Alenkhe, Edo NUJ Chairman Elections of candidate into various positions in Federated chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council, have been conducted in Benin.  The election which was conducted by the Treasurer of the Council - Comrade Solomon Obusoyan, was witnessed by the Secretary of the Council- Comrade Andy Egbon and journalists from other chapels was adjudged free, fair, and credible. 18 members were accredited to vote.  At the end of the election, Comrade Mercy Onyenwenli emerged the Chairman. She scored 17 votes to defeat his rival - Timothy Omobude who pulled out of the contest less than 24 hours before the election.  Other elected executives who were returned unopposed included: Ighomuaye Lucky (Secretary), Anita Erhenhi (Treasurer), and Justy Oteri (Financial Secretary). Federated chapel of Edo NUJ is set for a credible election, says Committee Chairman

  The Federated chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalist (NuJ), Edo State Council has revealed the date of elections into various positions in the chapel.  This revelation was made by the Chairman of the caretaker committee, Dr Isaac Eranga in Benin City. He said all was set for a credible election that will usher in new leadership that will pilot the affairs of the chapel for the next three years. The Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, meet with the Governor of Rivers, Nyesom Wike and other governors of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Rivers State. The meeting is the second time Obi would meet with Wike after dumping the PDP and declaring his presidential ambition. Obi’s meeting was disclosed via Twitter by former Governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko. Mimiko disclosed that the meeting was held yesterday night. Edo Football Referees Write National Promotional Examinations Today

  Members of Edo State Football Referees Council today joined their counterparts across Nigeria to write the 2022 Nigeria Football Referees Association (NRA) promotional examinations. The candidates include those writing from RIT (Referees in training) to grade 3; grade 3 to grade 2; and grade 2 to grade 1. Speaking, the Chairman of Edo Football Referees Council - Comrade Johnbull Nosa Okundolor lauded the  candidates for displaying high level of maturity before, during, and after the exams, and expressed hope that Edo state will score 100 percent in the exams. It is only when a Nigerian National Team scores a goal in a football match that we hear the country speak in one voice -“It is a goooooooooaaal”. The Nigerian senior football national team was called the the Red Devils before they changed their name to the Green Eagles. The Commissioner for Education, Dr. Joan Osa-Oviawe said this during an interactive session with journalists on the preparedness of the Ministry of Education for the 2022/2023 academic calendar in the State. She noted that the ministry has been engaged in a series of planning, stakeholders engagements and town hall meetings to improve the education sector. AS part of its commitment to boost the agricultural value chain, Delta State Government has signed Factory Plots Lease Agreement with Jayta Petroleum and  Commodities Nigeria Limited. Benin City: In a bid to ensuring affordable healthcare for journalists in Edo State, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council has agreed to collaborate with the National Health Insurance Authority, Edo State. This was revealed recently when members of the National Health Insurance Authority, Edo State paid a courtesy visit to Edo NUJ. Speaking, the Chairman of Edo NUJ, Comrade Festus Alenkhe said there was need for journalists to be insured because of the risk they encounter in the course of discharging their daily duties. He however called for close monitoring of designated hospital. "Every designated hospital for the insurance scheme should always do the right thing. We have seen situations where our members are asked to provide money first before they are being catered for. That is a wrong practice.
