The maiden Edo State Investment Summit Alaghodaro 'Progress' 2017 with the theme "Envisioning the Future" happening now at Edo Hotel, Benin City is aimed at promoting innovation and boosting economic productivity in Edo State through collaboration with the private sector.

The three day event brings together top Nigeria and International business and political leaders, investors, bankers, industry experts, policymakers, the diplomatic community and the academia to set the agenda for development.

Alaghodaro 2017 is designed to foster knowledge sharing, build relationships, spark innovation and inspire commitment to strategic development of capital for greater socio-economic and environmental impact.

The summit progressively coincides with the 1st anniversary of Godwin Obaseki's inauguration as Governor of Edo State and over the past year, Governor Obaseki have narrowed his focus on strategic transformation for the state to five thematic areas: "Institutional Reform, Economic Development, Social Welfare, Environmental Sustainability, and Art, Culture and Tourism.

The investment summit, under the distinguished chairmanship of Mr. Asue Ighodalo and Prof. Julius Ihonvbere is expected to revolutionise the landscape of public-private engagements.

There is no iota of doubt, irrespective of political differences, that Governor Godwin Obaseki has significantly improved State Competence, relative to his predecessors and across the States in the Country.  To achieve this, he had to rescue the State from private capture by ruthless non-State actors; this freed up public resources for public purposes.  He has held himself to a very high ethical and work-ethics standards, scrupulously focusing on the interests of the real people whilst staying on the Constitutional tracks in line with his oath of office.
