Nigeria at 57: Oba of Benin calls on leaders to be patriotic

His Royal Majesty Oba Ewuare II, Oba of Benin felicitates with
Nigerians on the occasion of the 57th Independence anniversary of
Nigeria. Oba Ewuare II expresses gratitude to God and the Ancestors for keeping "us together to witness this day, despite the series of challenges the Country is passing through".

The Oba of Benin however called on the Nation’s leaders to be patriotic and nationalistic in their attitude towards governance, so that they would be able to lead the country on the path of peace, progress and development.

This was contained in a press statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Desmond Agbama and made available to SOCIAL REPORTERS MEDIA.

The Benin Monarch stresses the need for Nigerians to eschew
corruption, which is the bane of our collective growth and development.
His Royal Majesty says in a pluralistic society such as Nigeria,
resources must be distributed fairly and equitably in order not to
marginalize any segment of the society.

"I charge the Nation’s leaders to combat insecurity and revamp the economy to provide better life for Nigerians. The Oba of Benin wishes every Nigerian a happy independence celebration", the Benin monarch said.
