Agric business in Nigeria: a sleeping giant

I read in a post where the author blamed the unemployment rate on Nigeria's youth. He suggested agriculture as a means of employment n livelihood.

I do not agree totally with his position and therefore have a few queries for him.

How many farmers in Nigeria drive in convoys, own property in Nigeria or/and offshore?

How many farmers have constant supply of electricity, portable water, motorable roads and access to the international market?

How many farmers can afford machines, tractors 🚜, processing equipment and other advanced farming tools at the current high cost?

How many farmers have the capacity for mass production of farm animals or The  capacity for rapid multiplication of crops.

How many farmers know the importance of employing AGRIC consultants, technicians, engineers, scientists, business developers or corporate executives?

Who, in the government can be trusted to disburse billions of Naira to farmers with all these accusations n counter accusations going on in government?

How many farmers can successfully produce, process, pkg & export Nigerian produce?

I don't know d kind of farming he or his supporters are talking about.

Zit sustainable commercial agriculture or subsistence farming?

Farmers, like entrepreneurs in other economic sectors need government support/input to succeed.

Increased agricultural productivity will directly impact positively on the nation's GDP.

but we need the government.

Yes, government, yes!

If you doubt me, ask the Malaysian's, Americans, Dutch etc.

I agree totally that Nigerian graduates are clueless when it comes to planning their future career.

However, the govt too is unwilling to support n invest in those who have a plan to succeed.

The academic system does not teach entrepreneurial skills.
Though a handful of lecturers engage in agricultural business for a part-time stream of income.

Students graduate empty except for d certificate.

In a book titled: (21 STRATEGIES TO GROW NIGERIA'S GDP BY 1000% IN 5 YEARS) clearly, how agric business value chain can create up-to 7.5million jobs in Nigeria yearly with a corresponding 152% growth in GDP whenever the government is ready.

So, it still comes down to the government.

Until the government begins to see agriculture as a BUSINESS worth investing in, NO NIGERIAN GRADUATE  will venture into it if he/she has other options.
