CNPP tasks political parties on inclusive participation

The Conference for Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP) on Saturday tasked politicians and their political parties to imbibe the culture of political participation.

The Edo Chairman of the CNPP, Mr Roy Oribhabor, stated this in an interview with the News Agency Of Nigeria (NAN), in Benin.

Oribhabor who spoke against the backdrop of criticism that have trailed the declaration of Ayo Fayose for President in 2019, said inclusive participation is needed for democratic growth.

The chairman who said Fayose declaration should be commended by all progressives, said the CNPP salute the courage of the Ekiti State Governor.

The conference however condemned the move against his ambition by some leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He noted that the principle of zoning being adopted by political parties in the country was not only limit the scope of political participation, but leads to the enthronement of mediocre in government.

"If Fayose says he has the record to defeat APC or any candidate in 2019, he should be encourage by his party, PDP.

" PDP should encourage him not to criticized the man who have showed better commitment and open the space for politicking .
PDP zoning is selfish and narrow and also against the spirit of democracy.

" We expect PDP to go back to the drawing board to mobilize for the candidate if they so believe in zoning than limiting the political space.

" Gov.Ayo Fayose has not commit any crime but only exercising his right as guarantee by Nigeria constitution.

" At critical time of our political history after PDP lost, it was only Fayose that was only the voice of PDP, when others abandoned the party he remains unabated and fill the vacuum created.

" Now, it is wise for PDP to have learned their lesson and more embracing than open segregation,", he said.
