He Comes as the Game Changer to Propel Edo Forward (2)

What I have discovered is most of all the game changers I came across over time are personal players. But there is only one, that is people centred. Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu is that people centred game changer, I admire and have come to respect.
This is because he exhibits the the distinguishing characteristics that game changers of his calibre possess and that is passion! The work, game changers do, is a real expression of who Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu represents. It comes from the inside. He gets enormous amounts of meaning and purpose from his work, and feel very strongly that he is creating something of great value.
This explains why when the Edo state government went to sleep over its obligations to citizens in terms of creating necessary awareness about the now devastating Corona Virus or Covid17, providing hand sanitizers and face masks as well as economic stimulus to cushion the effects of the lockdown on citizens, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu seized the initiative.
He began by distributing thousands of branded Hand sanitizers and Coronavirus awareness leaflets to millions across the state, and followed it up immediately by distributing food items such as Rice, Beans, Garri, Noddles, tin tomatoes, Salt, Water etc to vulnerable people across Edo state, " because there is a compelling need at this time to do so".
For Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, for the people centred game changer that he is, the lockdown and restriction of movement of persons across the state as part of measures to reduce the spread of the dreaded Coronavirus, is bound to make people hungry and desperate to get food, so they can feed.
For this work there is nothing personal because for Pastor Ize-Iyamu, the game changer, "we are doing this not for politics. We are doing it because there is a compelling need at this time to do it...Our target is 4000 families. Our plan is that every part of the state, in every ward, we should be able to touch a certain number of families".
Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu in doing all this does not see others who are aspiring to govern Edo state, and seeking to create a better future for unborn generation of Edo children- as competition. They are partners with with the same goals and dreams to make Edo better than they met it.
I have been working with politicians for decades now, and my favorite type of politician is this preacher - a very simple, humble and determined game changer. Pastor Ize-Iyamu is a politician who is so freed up from the pressures of time and money that he sees his political life as a game - one he can win and enjoy. He sees using his time and activity to create new, better, and different offerings that transform the way things are being done and should be done in Edo state. So, in effect, he has changed the game for himself and others.
I have come across two very different types of politicians over the course of my career. The first is what I call “personal player.” Personal players are interested in themselves—and not much else. If presented with an idea that is people oriented or to be a part of something new, they write it off, if they can’t see how they are personally going to benefit right away. This is fine, and personal players are necessary in the political space, but they’re not the type of politicians the APC in Edo should be interested in working with at this time.
The other type of politician, and the type I much prefer to work with, who comes highly recommended and because of the trauma, the party has been subjected to, in recent times, is what I identify as a “People centred player.” This is a player who is fascinated by the process of putting things together to create something new. Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu is very confident in his plans for Edo people, so he is confident that he will live better, happier on his ideas somewhere down the road, but that, from a close watch, is not his primary consideration.
The Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu that I know is interested in helping other people, he has built bridges, developed teams, and made new converts to his values and ideals. As a people player, he may still act personal to keep score, but the game is about something much bigger for him. It’s about critical and deservedly too, good governance and development for the state of his birth, a state that he loves and one that he believes he has a stake about it's future.
This is why I am vehement in my appeal to all Edo APC members in our dear state as the countdown begins, to begin to make up their minds about who they will be picking as the flagbearer in the coming direct primaries of the party for the governorship polls this year. I see Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu as a great choice. I see him emerging victorious, because he is the game changer, the party, and intact Edo state needs at this time!
