Benin: The National Commandant of the Peace Corps, Dr. Dickson Akoh said Nigeria needed peace and unity across the country for meaningful development to take place. He called on Nigerian youths to contribute to the developmental stride of President Buhari, by making good  use of their time in promoting peaceful gestures and in building a better Society.

He made this call in a workshop held in Benin city.

While speaking on the theme: Let's Give Peace a Chance, Dr Akoh  said the bill seeking the recognition of Peace Corps of Nigeria as a legal agency by the federal government has passed second reading on the floor of the current National Assembly, and that  President Muhammadu Buhari recognized the Peace Corps but he's  waiting for availability of funds to maintain the body before it could be signed into law.

Doctor Akoh commended the men of the Corps for helping the country to provide security for lives and property and in ensuring peace reign.

He assured that the Corps would assist the Nigerian government in the fight against insurgency, banditry, kidnapping and other heirenous crimes to make the society free and safe for the teeming population especially the youths.

Speaking, the  State Commandant, Mr. Frankly Egbadon advised the youths to go into legitimate and profitable ventures that would better their lives.

He urged them to shun violence, hatred and acrimony that would undermine peace and development in the country.

He noted that the state command would continue to promote peace, harmony and oneness among residents in the state.
