The team manager (TM) of Rivers Angels Football Club of Port Harcourt - Matilda Otuene, has commended the performance of Referee Peace Ikerebe of Edo State Football Referees Council in the National Woman Football League (NWFL) Champions Shield match between the 2018 AITEO Cup Champions Rivers Angels and league Champions Bayelsa Queens on Saturday 24th August, 2019, in Samson Siasia stadium in Yenagoa.

Matilda Otuene made this commendation recently while chatting with the Social Reporters Sports via telephone conversation, over their 0-2 loss to Bayelsa Queen's. She said despite the loss, kudos needed to be given to Referees Peace and her assistants for for being fair and firm in the course of the match.

"I am satisfied with the way the match was being officiated by Peace Ikerebe and her assistants. They proved to the world that our referees can still be trusted for effective football delivery. As a female football administrator, I am proud of Referee Peace. She proved to be effective communicator on the field of play and was always close to the ball, thereby making right decisions.

"Our loss was as a result of the fact that most of our best players are presently in camp for the national team. They couldn't leave the camp to come and play the match because that was a national call. There is always another day", the TM said.
Ref. Ikerebe is being regarded as one of the finest referees in the league and has previously officiated some of the biggest games in the Nigeria Women Premier League, having shown high level of sportsmanship and decorum on the pitch, it’s no surprise that she was called upon for this game.

The 26 year old Referee took full charge of the match that was widely televised in some national stations, thereby bringing laurels to Edo State Referees Council. Her Assistants included: Ajayi Joy from Ondo State and Faith Agbons from Edo State, while Adeyemi Christiana was the reserve referee.
