Edo Govt partners Connected Advocacy Group on job creation

Benin City: The Edo State government said it is ready to synergize with the Connected Advocacy for Empowerment and Youth Development Initiative (CAYDI) in creating decent jobs for youths of the State.

This was disclosed by the State Commissioner for Employment, Cooperatives and Job creation, Hon. (Dr.) Felix Akhabue, when top Management Staff of CAYDI recently paid him a courtesy visit in his office. He said the State Governor, Mr. Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki is saddled with the responsibility of creating decent job opportunities for Edo youths in a bid to reducing crimes and criminality in the State.

Hon Akhabue highlighted some of the achievements so far made by the state government in empowering Edo State youths through the Edo jobs platform which include training in various trades and skill acquisitions, connecting job seekers with employers and recently approving the employment of 500 youths into the Edo State Service Commission.

"The governor is working towards engaging the youths either in the formal or informal sector. More programs that will help in creating more decent jobs are presently worked on and will soon be made known to the public.

"We are happy to partner with the Connected Advocacy for Empowerment and Youth Development Initiative because through them, we shall achieve some of our programs for the betterment of Edo youths", the Honourable Commissioner said.

Speaking earlier, the Executive Director of CAYDI, Prince Israel Orekha said they were in the Ministry to inform the Commissioner about their forth coming program taking place on Saturday 30th of August, 2019, at the Edo Innovation Hub.

"The program is geared towards creating decent jobs for Edo youths in fulfilment of Youth Employment Decade 2020-2030 where youths from various countries are to be given decent jobs. This is with a view to reducing crimes and other social vices among the youths.

"We are also working on educating the youths if the State in area of alternative income generation through smart agriculture", Prince Orekha said.
