Edo NUJ Partners BENCCIMA On Made In Nigeria Goods

Benin City: The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council has collaborated with the Benin Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (BENCCIMA) in promoting made in Nigeria goods in Edo State.

Speaking during a courtesy visit made to Edo NUJ by members of the 2022 Edo Trade Fair Planning Committee, the Chairman of Edo NUJ- Comrade Festus Alenkhe emphasized the importance of trade fair in the socioeconomic development of a state. He assured the committee members of the Union's readiness to synergize with them in promoting made-in-Nigeria goods, saying the media is a key stakeholder in the issue.

"I want to urge you people to set up a subcommittee on publicity in order to have a strong voice and to ensure that the right information is being passed across all length and breadth of Edo State", he said.

Festus Alenkhe used the medium to call on the Federal Government of Nigeria to look at ways through which she can bring down the high rate of foreign exchange which is skyrocketing on a daily basis. 

Speaking earlier, the leader of the delegation - Barr. Eghosa Alex Aganmwonyi said they were at the Edo NUJ to seek collaboration in the area of publicity. According to him  "the media has a role to play in informing the public of what we want them to know. NUJ is our strongest partner," he said.

Barr. Aganmwonyi said the trade fair whose theme is "promoting made-in-Nigeria goods" will hold from November 25 to December 10 , 2022. He said trade fair gives avenue for connectivity with key actors in various industries. 

"I want to use this medium to encourage all business owners to use this trade fair to display their products for the public to see. There will be ready market for their goods and services", he added.
