Alleged N500,000 scam: Edo NDDC commissioner found wanting

The leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Iyoba ward in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State led by Engr. Reuben Eboigbodin has unanimously said they have lost confidence in the Commissioner for Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Mr. Saturday Uwuilekhue as the leader of the ward over alleged financial misappropriation of N500,000 meant for the governorship election of governor Godwin Obazeki and many others.

In a press statement signed by the leaders and executive members of APC in Iyoba ward made available to newsmen in Benin City, accused the  Commissioner of numerous offenses which include undemocratic practices.

According to them, the sum of N500,000 brought for the election of Godwin Obaseki, suddenly developed wings in the hands of Mr. Saturday Uwuilekhue and disappeared into the tin air till date and never accounted for by the NDDC Commissioner.

In the area of party activities, they claimed that since his nomination as the leader of the party in the ward, he has been seen hobnobbing with members of the main opposition party that he can never be trusted as a leader.

In their words, "Hon. Saturday Uwuilekhue never contributed financially to the progress of the party in the ward as well as he never attended any APC ward meetings since assumption of office as NDDC Commissioner",

They also said all effort to seek justice and fair play from the state APC Secretariat has met brick walls in the office of the state secretary, Mr. Lawrence Okah whom they claimed has personal interest in Saturday Uwuilekhue.

The statement further said sequel to the meeting, Mr. Saturday Uwuilekhue has been removed as the leader of the ward and replaced by apex leader Engr. Reuben Eboigbodin.

Reacting to the allegations, the personal assistant to the commissioner, Mr. Chris Osa Ayemien Uhunmwangho, said the allegations are all false adding that it is shocking for people from Iyoba ward to raise such allegations because these are all persons feeding under the commissioner without him there is no APC in Iyoba ward.
