INVESTIGATION: Why Edo PDP withdrew from Local Government Polls

Apart from being extremely broke, investigations has revealed that the Edo state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have other reasons why they withdrew from contesting the forthcoming Edo Local Government Council Polls.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has opted to head for court instead of heading to the polls.

In a message released by the party's Chairman; Chief Dan Orbih, he revealed that his party were going to court to challenge the power of Edo State House of Assembly to validly amend the Edo State Local Government Electoral Laws to abridge the length of notice of Edo State Local Government Polls.

Investigation by *Flash Reporters* however found that Dan Orbih's plan to head to court was only a ploy to get some more hundreds of millions of Naira from Governor Of Rivers State; Nyesome Wike and Governor of Delta State; Ifeanyi Okowa who are major sponsors of the Edo PDP.

Dan Orbih's brother is a SAN who also represented Edo PDP in the contest of Sept. 28 Gubernatorial Elections which they lost from Tribunal To Supreme Court. However, inside sources said that despite the loss,  Dan Orbih's brother got richer by some hundreds of millions.

A PDP Chieftain was also quoted to have advised the PDP not to allow its members waste money by engaging on a fruitless adventure of trying to contest with the APC in Edo State Local Government Polls. Apart from the performance of Governor Godwin Obaseki which even ‘die-hard’ critics of the APC and Nigerians across board have hailed, the Chieftain said “the rigged Delta State Local Government elections, which is just a few weeks back; is still fresh in the minds of the APC”.

“Do you think the APC will fold its hands and allow PDP to win any ward after what we (PDP) did in Delta just a few weeks back?”.

“Have you forgotten that some wards where PDP candidates even congratulated the APC candidates were declared in favour of the PDP in Asaba... even to the astonishment of the PDP candidates?”, he asked rhetorically.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of EDSIEC; Prof Orobator has assured that he has been given a mandate to conduct a free and fair election.

Investigation by *Flash Reporters* revealed that the Delta State Local Government Elections was one of the most rigged election in the history of democracy in Nigeria. Marred with violence, wards like Aniocha North Ward 5 where results from ward level showed that the APC candidate won; were declared in favour of the PDP.

This is however not the best of time for Dan Orbih as caterpillars will soon head to his residence situated in the premises of Adesuwa Girls Grammar School in response to petitions received from old students of the institution by the Edo State Government.
