Response of YDP to Buhari's Speech

Young Democratic Party (YDP) agrees with Mr. President’s statement during his broadcast on Monday, August 21st,  that “the Unity of Nigeria is not negotiable”; a constitutional provision embedded in our coat of arms and a matter of governmental responsibility to uphold its sanctity; hence YDP appeal to all Nigerians to support the continuous unity of Nigeria given that our positives far outweigh our negatives as a united country.  We, however, believe that the Federal government, under President Buhari, should work towards ensuring that this unity is sustainable .

YDP understands that it is imperative to listen to genuine responsible voices across the nation who can chart a revised structure that will ensure balanced resource control and equal sense of belonging among others within the unity.

YDP understands the multi-faceted nature of our collective heritage as a nation hence the appreciation of the different solutions posited by well intentioned Nigerians. YDP appreciates the diversity of this nation and believes in its strength. However, it is essential that every Nigerian feels the same sense of belonging and social security without prejudice.

Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria
