Breaking: Group calls for the resignation of Edo Speaker

------condemned impeachment of Deputy Speaker

By Our Correspondent

Benin City: A group known as the Concern Esan Sons and Daughters coalition has condemned the impeachment of the Edo Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Victor Edoror, and called for the immediate resignation of the speaker, Rt. Hon. Kabiru Adjoto, saying the position belongs to the Esan nation.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Prince Roy Oribhabor said thus: "Our attention has been drawn to the impeachment of the Deputy Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Victor Edoror by the State House of Assembly and the subsequent replacement of Hon. Justine Okonobo.

"We reject this impeachment. With the political arrangement on ground in the state, and in the spirit of oneness, the three principal offices were shared within the three senatorial districts. Now that, the South is the Governor, Deputy Governor from the North, its proper to elect and nominate person from Central to be the Speaker. Therefore, impeaching the Deputy Speaker is mere smokescreen and unacceptable to us.

"The right position is the immediate resignation or impeachment of the Speaker - Kabiru Adjoto, to pave way for Esan person to become Speaker.

"We call on Edo State House of Assembly to do the needful instead of resulting to elementary politicking. What happened in Edo state house of Assembly is unacceptable, misnomer, narrow and political deprivation which must not stand.
The conduct of Assembly has further provoke the sensibility and peaceful disposition of Esan nation.

"As critical stakeholders in Esan nation, we hereby call on Rt. Hon. Justine Okonoboh not to accept such derogatory offer because it's embarrassing; rather, he should be elevated to the position of the Speakership", Prince Roy Oribhabor said.
