EPIA is a vision, says Edokpolo

The President of Edo Progressive Indigenous Association (EPIA), Chief Dr Bishop Omogiade Enoyiogiere Edokpolo said the pan Edo cultural group is a vision of the Edo people in empowering the needy and indigenising what rightly belongs to the Edo people. He said EPIA is an open book and that the members are volunteers.

The Edo indigenous leader said this while speaking on the returned Benin artefacts some weeks ago to the Palace of the Benin monarch confiscated by the British in 1897. He said the artefacts if properly annexed, will attract tourists to Benin Kingdom.

"I want to use this medium to thank the Federal Government of Nigeria for fulfilling their promises. Like Oliver Twist ask for more, I want to appeal to the Federal Government to expedite action in returning the artefacts still housed by the German Government.

"I want to also urge the Benin Palace to see this as an opportunity to improve on the tourism potentials of the Benin Kingdom. This will help increase the GDP of the State. There are many tourism potentials in Benin Kingdom such as the moats, the Igun Bronze casting, cultural troupe display, etc.

"EPIA's vision which is generational, is to is to empower the indigenes of Edo state worldwide and to promote the rich cultural values of the State", Dr. Edokpolo said.
