2023 General Elections: Group calls on Women to synergize

 Benin City: The Executive Director of Global Women for Quality and Sustainable Development Initiative - Miriam Kadiri-Ezelome has emphasized on the need for women to synergize in order to have a noticeable position in the society. 

Mrs Kadiri-Ezelome said this during a one day capacity building training for women in leadership on mitigating gender based violence in Edo State. She encouraged women to create a good play ground with community leaders and with the people especially women, saying studies reveal that Women votes more during election.

"I want to use this this medium to call on the trainees to develop the attitude of empowering the vulnerable women amongst who are survivors of gender based violence (GBV), as the action will go a long way to mitigate GBV and to also get more followers for leadership'', she said.

Speaking, the Executive Director of Women and Children Advancement Program (WOYCAP)- Barr. Agatha Osieke said the crux of the training was hinged on social behaviour and this according to her,  has been the reason why women have been told directly and indirectly to work on themselves.

"Our socialization due to growing up pattern and environment has affected our attitudes in relating with one another. This has also affected our behaviour in politics", she said.

While speaking with newsmen, the Executive Director of SOTHAWACA- Comrade Mrs Ronke Ojiekere thanked the organizers of the program and said it will help mitigate GBV by stimulating women for leadership position. She said the trainees were female aspirants for leadership position in the forthcoming elections and past female Chairpersons of local government, women led groups and media practitioners.
