The Chairman of Nigerian Red Cross Society, Edo State Branch- Comrade Festus Alenkhe said the branch had reached 300 beneficiaries in the three Senatorial Districts of Edo State with livelihood support to cushion the effect of COVID-19. Comrade Alenkhe revealed this while speaking with Newsmen in Benin City during the celebration of the World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day with the theme: "Be Human Kind"(#BeHumanKIND).

"300 vulnerable people affected by COVID-19 received N30500 each with support from the British Red cross. These beneficiaries were selected by their community leaders from Umaegbe and Ihogbe in Oredo, Ekpoma in Edan West, and Auchi in Etsako West.

"It is this line of 'kindness' thinking that informs every action of the Nigerian Red Cross Society as it goes into communities to implement programs of all kinds, generally targeted at being kind to people, especially vulnerable populations", said Comrade Festus Alenkhe.

Speaking, the Edo Red Cross Secretary, Mr. Wilson Ekhomogiazin said Be Human Kind is about the little help rendered to the dying, the vulnerable, the less privileged, and the down trodden. He said the Nigerian Red Cross Society is known for rendering human kindness in all spheres of the Nigerian society. He called on Red Cross members to redouble their efforts in helping the less privileged in the society.
