Edo2020: APC candidate writes off Governor Obaseki's MEGA slogan

...Explains how he came up with Simple Agenda

The APC candidate for the September governorship elections in Edo state, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu has described the outgoing Governor Obaseki's, 'Make Edo Great Again', slogan as a mark of failure.

He said the new slogan shows Governor Obaseki had no agenda since he took office in 2016 until now when he is completing his four year tenure meaning he only succeeded in wasting Edo people's time and resources by doing nothing.

According to Pastor Ize-Iyamu, "So the past four years he was groping in the dark. A man who came in as a technocrat four years ago. A man who was in government and promised continuity. He wasted the time of Edo people. And now he wants to make Edo great again realizing nothing has been done?".

The APC candidate who was addressing Media Executives and reporters based in Edo state at the weekend in Benin City when he presented each of them with copies of the Simple Agenda booklet also debunked claims that he was not the author of the document.

"I am the author of Simple Agenda. Those who are laying claims to it are trying to be mischievous. You can go as far back as 2016 when Amazon was selling copies of the Simple Agenda online and they titled it, 'The Political Manifesto of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu'. Nobody has sued them because Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu is the author of Simple Agenda".

On the letters of the manifesto he said S in the, "S.I.M.P.L.E" stands for Security and Social Welfare; I for Infrastructural Development and Urban Renewal; M for Manpower development ; P for Public Private Partnership; L for Leadership by example and E for Employment and Empowerment.

According to the APC candidate, the Simple Agenda was what he conceived the moment he started nursing the ambition to be elected as Edo state Governor, and decided that he must put in writing what he intends to do if gets into office.

To actualize this, he said that he made wide consultations with friends and experts far and wide and they identified the real needs of Edo people across the many communities that make up the state, the result of which is the Simple Agenda.

" ...After seeing the weaknesses in the system and having held positions, I realized that so much can be done if we have a Governor who is focused, sincere and passionate about this state. I decided that the starting point was to put in writing what I needed to do".

Meanwhile, Pastor Ize-Iyamu has described the Simple Agenda as SMART, meaning that it is:
S- specific
M-Measurable
A-Achievable
R-Realistic
T-Time-based, adding because he does not believe in making promises without putting a time frame he came up with a document that is, "deliberately simple as possible".

He said this is because, "People must see the completion of any project. And I want to tell you that this is a document for which we are time-conscious. We realise that the tenure of a Governor is not eight years. It is tenure is four. If it is renewed by reelection then he gets another four".
