AFN: Urgent Correspondence to Sports Minister
....Will Sports Minister Sunday Dare align with the trajectory of progress or support the factionalization agenda of some deviants in AFN?
.....The illegally self- imposed acting President of the AFN- Olamide George has been suspended by an overwhelming majority votes at the Extra Ordinary Congress of the Atletics Federation of Nigeria held in Awka, Anambra State.
It is now established beyond any iota of doubt, that the meeting which was allegedly held in Abuja on December 3rd, 2019, with some supposed board members of the athletics federation reaching some consequential decisions, was a brazen theatre of illegality and impunity. It is deeply regrettable that the recently suspended Vice President of the Association, Olamide George, will descend into the abyss of such desperation to engage in the antics of staging an absolutely fake and illegitimate board meeting against all provisions of the AFN constitution.
The Exra Ordinary Congress expressed grave concern that the cabal of Olamide George, Brown Ebele, Gabriel Okon, Rosa Collins, ( Rtd) DIG Sani M and Fidelis Gadzama, all being participant at the illegal Abuja Board meeting of December 3rd , constituted serious embarrassment to the steadily growing image of the sports federation.
Obviously, the scheme of Olamide George’s rickety group could cause stagnation in the high gear efforts by the sports administration for the 2020 Olympics and other planned major events. It is however relieving as recently pledged by the President of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, Hon ( Engr) Ibrahim Shehu-Gusau that the sports management organization will not be distracted by the antics of George’s illegal formation .
It is a matter of utter amazement that the Minister of Sports ,Sunday Dare , would in any way be suggested to be giving endorsement to the Olamide George gang in the Athletic Federation . A lot of concerned stakeholders and informed observers in Nigeria’s sports industry are expecting the Minister to ,without delay, call the deviant characters to order in the best interest of athletics in the country.
Sports New Africa will be delving into the details of the condemnable surreptitious moves by Olamide George and his surrogates in their lobby efforts towards the Minster for validation of their illegal conduct in the Abuja tragic theatre called AFN board meeting on the 3rd of December. We shall conduct further analysis of the resounding resolutions from the duly convened Extra Ordinary Congress of the AFN on Dec 4th in Akwa ,Anambra State as well the Press Conference held by the AFN President Ibrahim Shehu-Gusau in Lagos yesterday .
