Young and Emerging Professional Seminar holds in Benin

In a bid to understanding the needs of employers in the 21st century, an emerging career opportunities seminar was held recently in Benin, tagged, Young and Emerging Professional Seminar, under the auspieces of Connected Advocacy for Empowerment and Youth Development Initiative.

Speaking, the Executive Director of Connected Advocacy, Prince Israel Orekha said with the emergence  of new skills and proliferation of value chains in major production lines, there was need for a seminar that will enlightening youths emerging professions.

"This seminar is geared towards reducing the scourge of unemployment amongs youth in Edo State, as the saying goes 'an idle mind is the devil's workshop. Youths that are gainfully employed will be less prone to criminality.

"We have been able to discover different professions and skills that will be of great help to our youths in becoming self-reliant and reducing criminality in the society. These can be seen in different value-chain products in different field of endeavours.

Speaking, the resource person - Anifat Ibrahim, urged participants to open their eyes to opportunities around them. She said opportunity begets opportunity. Anifat Ibrahim said this while speaking on a topic, networks that work.

Ms Anifat Ibrahim took the participants through different emerging professions in the area of agriculture, business services, education, healthcare, hospitality, ict, media and entertainment, etc.

"Skill upgrading open doors. Learn something new and leverage on them to make life meaning for you, your family and your community. Develop yourselves through free massive online courses and grow your world of opportunities.

"Soft skills can make the difference. Learn how to write well, speak well, relate well with people, etc", Anifat said.

Participants such as Emmanuel Bello, Angelie Anthony, Joseph Aghedo, Amos Ediagboya, expressed satisfaction about the program and thanked the resource person and Connected Advocacy for giving them the privilege to learn new skills.
