NCAHT celebrates Oba Ewuare's move against human trafficking, others

The Oba of Benin, Omo N' Oba N'Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare 11 has been commended for his collaborative efforts in the war against human  trafficking, irregular migration and other social menace.

A statement issued in Benin by the President, Network of Civil Society Against Human Trafficking, NCAHT, Jennifer Ero described last Friday's meeting convoked by Oba Ewuare as apt and key to end the scourge of illegal migration and criminal activities  in the state.

It would be recalled the  meeting was attended by Edionwere (Heads of clans), native doctors, chiefs, Enigie (Dukes) high priests and priestesses in Edo state whom the oba mandated to revoke the curses and oaths placed on the trafficked victims of human trafficking in the state.

They however in turn placed a curse on human traffickers and those aiding and abetting human trafficking in the state.

Jennifer Ero expressed confidence that the initiative by the Oba is worthwhile and it will ease prosecution process of suspected human traffickers.

According to the activist, "I am indeed very grateful to the Oba of Benin for this new development to set our young ones free from bondage especially the female victims. It's obviously  what the victims have been praying for. It's indeed a liberation for all victims of Human trafficking. Their ultimate fear has been broken. For us, this is freedom at last."

The President of NCAHT added that "We will spread this great news to all the victims all over the world that they have been set free from the oath they have taken which would no longer kill them as the traffickers made them believed."

Jennifer Ero has been at the forefront in the campaign against human trafficking, illegal migration, violence against women and children.
