POI, PDP: Never mind, life is full of ups and downs

By John Mayaki

The thorough bashing suffered by the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, fondly called POI, with his party in tow at the Edo state Election Petition Tribunal is not the end of the world. Life, after all, can be full of undulating vicissitudes; I can confidently console the cleric and his party.

Even the Holy Book, which he, no doubt, must be familiar with, tells us that there are times for everything and the clergyman, having enjoyed some of the high sides and better fortunes of life, must now be grateful to God.

And so, my duty here is to console and assure the good Pastor that his season will come – if not now, later – at the appointed time.

When you find yourself trudging uphill, or if you find yourself alone at the bottom of the stairs, looking on at the objective world as they conduct their affairs at the top of the stairs, you must not be faint of spirit, good sir.

It is naught but a wearying challenge, and I hear the bottom of the stairs is a good enough place for meditation on life and its many surprises.

You may have to downsize, but cope you must, when reality stares you in the face.

There is no crime in your present fall. However, I am left with a sincere prayer that you rise and even so, soonest. The pulpit calls. Never mind, if the tricks in the petition were revealed with the exposing rays of a sound torchlight, and the world watched on as the naked petition was put six feet below in permanent rest.
