Peace and Conflict Resolutionist, Journalist, Bags UN Global Peace Ambassador Award

The United Nations Organisation in conjunction with the International Organization of Advocates for Global Peace and Development have presented a Global Peace Ambassador award on two distinguished Nigerian citizens, Dr. Richard Aifuwa Omoregbe -a peace and conflict resolutionist, and Hon. Johnny Benjamin- a journalist, in appreciation for their selfless services to humanity.

Presenting the awards to the recipients in Benin City over the weekend, the West African regional director of the organization, Bishop Amb. Prosperity Udoji said the recipients got the award on the platform of the UN human solidarity day which was celebrated on the 20th day of December. He said the award was the highest and most outstanding recognition to those individuals whose lives exemplify the ideals of living for the stake of others and who dedicate themselves to promote universal moral values, and the establishment of a cultural system predicated on peace and development.

Amb. Udoji said the organisation was approved by the United Nations General Assembly in 2010 and since then, they've been following the objectives to the latter. He said the organisation was established to bridge the harmony between the various classes of beings in the world.

"With this award, you have now joined the league of prominent United Nations Chartered Global Peace Ambassador across the globe.

"We want you to know that purely, this is service to humanity. We expect you to use your last breath to promote peace round the globe because peace is the only symbol that can unite the world", he said.

In his acceptance speech, Amb. Richard Aifuwa Omoregbe thanked God and the UN for the award and said he will always give his best to promoting peace round the globe. He called on all to be peace conscious saying "for peace to reign, everyone must be peace conscious".
