2019: Southeast PDM roots for Atiku, warns against merger

A former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has been urged to make himself available for the 2019 Presidential elections under the Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM), as the party has the potentials to win the next general elections.

A chieftain of the PDM in Igboland Dr. Haroun O. Ajah, who made the call yesterday in a statement, also warned the party never to merge with other
political parties where it will lose its identity.

"All political parties are however welcome to join and fly the flag of our great party, the PDM," Ajah said.

He commended the stand of the Atiku on the restructuring of Nigeria which he backed to be the only way to a better administrative system for
Nigeria.

"National peace and stability require national dialogue for consensus building, the restructuring of Nigeria as the commitment to achieve true
federalism which can only be carried out by a courageous and patriotic person like Alhaji Atiku
Ababakar as President of Nigeria.

"I implore the national caretaker committee of PDM and the 'Baba PDM, Ibrahim Gusau in particular to work very hard and ensure that
people with respect, courage, commitment and integrity emerge as Leaders of Peoples'
Democratic Movement (PDM) Party in the forthcoming Congresses and National Convention," he said.

He added: "I solicit PDM to never merge with other political parties where it will lose its identity;
name, party logo and the clarion call from darkness to light. PDM is a great party and a big party that will certainly clear the next general elections. That is why we are solidly and completely behind the candidacy of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Turakin Adamawa for the Presidency of
Nigeria in 2019 on any Political Party he wishes to contest. However, we invite him to use the
platform of PDM for his presidential project but if he refuses to choose PDM as his choice Party to contest in 2019 PDM is still ready to adopt him as sole candidate."
