ABUJA – Rep. Pally Iriase (Edo-APC) yesterday in Abuja commended plans by the Federal Government to extend the emergency rule in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe.

Iriase said that extending the emergency rule for another six months would enable the military to perform better in the efforts to rid insurgency.

“It is important because we have not achieved much in the past one year of declaring state of emergency in these states.

“We have been moving back and front; one step forward ten steps backward but that not withstanding, we still believe that the requisite environment would be created to enable them to do what they have to do.

“People are quite sceptical that the purpose of which the state of emergency was declared several months ago had not been achieved.

“Even though we are not attending plenaries just now; we are on recess from plenary; I believe that at the appropriate time we will take a look at it as we have always done.”
