Benin City: After a week of renewed bitterness between rival cult groups, three lifeless bodies were in the early hours of Thursday recovered at the popular Anigboro and Uselu motor park axis of Uselu Quarters, Egor Local Government area, Edo state.

One of the bodies was identified as Osasere a ticketer at the Uselu motor pack and regularly seen at Good Samaritan road.

On eyewitness accounts, Osasere was given a hot chase by the reported killers after he resumed duty at the popular Uselu motor park when he tried escaping the siege laid by the assailants who were reported to have been after his elder brother, an alleged member of one of the deadly groups.

Unfortunately, he could not escape as they were said to have overpowered him.

According to news making the rounds, the new hostility is between members of the Black axe otherwise addressed as Aiye and Malphite Confraternity.

Hell was said to have let loose when a member of the Black axe confraternity allegedly killed a Malphite group member, an opposite confraternity, leading to reprisal for which three members were hacked.

The situation at the time of this report remains sketchy but when contacted to confirm the recent development, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chidi Nwanbuzor agreed that the command is aware and is putting security measures in place to checkmate the deadly incidents.

He noted that, despite the efforts, no culprit has been arrested.

He urged the public to continue to go about their lawful businesses with the hope that the perpetrators would be made to face the music.
