Parliament is beyond law making, says Iduoriyekemwen

An erstwhile Majority Leader of Edo State House of Assembly, and NDDC Commissioner representing Edo State - Rt. Hon. Matthew Iduoriyekemwen said the duty of the parliament is beyond law making. Iduoriyekemwen who is vying for the office of a Senator (Edo South Senatorial District) in the forthcoming Senatorial elections, made this comment in Benin when he paid a visit to Journalists at the NUJ secretariat.

According to Iduoriyekemwen, "Parliament don't only make laws, they ensures the projects embarked upon by the Executive meets to the aspiration of the people they are representing. That is, the projects meet the specific needs of the people.

"I hail from Ikpoba-Okha and it's on record that Egor/ Ikpoba-Okha federal constituency has never produced a Senator.  So when it comes to equity, it is our turn in Ikpoba-Okha/Egor and when it comes to the side of intelligence, it is my turn. It's time for new ideas to be injected into the legislation of this country."

Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council - Comrade Festus Alenkhe JP, described Rt Hon. Matthew Iduoriyekemwen as a grassrooter who had the interest of the people at heart. He said Iduoriyekemwen had been a friend of the media and wished him well in his political endeavour.
