Elvis Omoregie emerges Merit Chapel's Chairman

Benin City: Mr. Elvis Omoregie has  emerged the chairman of Merit Chapel, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Edo State council.

Elvis Omoregie is a graduate of Mass Communication from Federal Polytechnic, Auchi.

He is the Edo State correspondent of the Sahara Weekly Magazine.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after he was sworn-in by the State Executive of the Union in Benin City, Mr. Elvis Omoregie said his mandate was to reposition the chapel and make it one of the leading chapels in the state.

He also said the era where the chapel is seeing as a dumpsite is over and that he was going to work with the State Executives of the council to ensure quacks are weeded out of the chapel while those who have passion for the profession but have not met the requisite requirement would be encouraged to do so within the possible time.


The newly elected chairman of the chapel reiterated his commitment to ensure the welfare of his members are well taken care of stressing that the ultimate goal of people belonging to any association is for his or her welfare to be taken care of.

The chapel chairman further hinted on his desire to work with the leadership of  the Council to promote peace and tranquility in the union noting that no meaningful development can be achieved in an atmosphere of rancour.

Furthermore, he said he will work with other Chapels within the Council to promote and champion courses that will develop the Council.

While thanking the outgoing Executive members of the Chapel for their numerous contributions to the survival of the Chapel, said he will count on their wealth of experience gained over the years in taking it to a notable height in the state adding that a tree cannot make a forest.

He however thanked the leadership of the State Executive for their wise counseling and leadership that has resulted to a free and fair election in the just concluded chapel's election.
