This waade known by the State Commissioner of Police, CP Danmallam Mohamed, during a courtesy visit by executive of the State Referees Council, led by the State Chairman,  Mr. Johnbull Nosa Okundolor.

"I was glad when I learnt Edo referees wanted to visit me. I have been a football player right from childhood. I started as a goal keeper before I became a player. I wore jersey number 7.

"We are ready to partner with you in eliminating quacks so as to make football more attractive, progressive and better,  especially in Edo State.  Your profession is recognised worldwide.

"In Nigeria, soccer is seen as a uniting force. When it comes to football, everybody is one. I wish we can take it to the political aspect of our lives. This will help eliminate sectionalism, favouritism, tribalism, etc. For this country to move forward, we must look from the angle of football", the Police boss said.

Speaking earlier, the Chairman of Edo Football RefereesCouncil, Mr. Johnbull Nosa Okundolor, said the reason for the visit was to inform the CP that the State now had a new executives that will run the affairs of football in Edo State for the next four (4). And also to partner with the police in fighting quacks who go about officiating football matches especially at the Local level.

"They are not graded or registered football referees; they sometimes put on football referees's uniform in carrying out these illegal duties.

"We also use this medium to thank you so much for prompt release of your personnel especially when the Bendel Insurance FC of Benin and the Dynamite FC of Iyamho, are playing their league matches. Now that the Edo State Aiteo cup organised by Edo Football Association is on, we seek for more protection in our various match venues", said the Edo Referees' boss.

Mr. Okundolor appealed to the CP to always grant members of the police command that are football referees permission when ever they are appointed for matches.

He later presented a whistle, red and yellow cards to CP Danmallam.
