In a bid to developing the leadership skills of youth in Edo State, a youth and children leadership development and resource center named after the Egor Local Government Council Chairman, Hon. Eghe Ogbemudia has been opened in Benin. The center which was established by the Connected Advocacy- a nationally registered non-governmental organisation, will also engage in activities that will ensure that the rights of youths and children are protected.

Speaking, the Egor Council boss said this was the first center named after her, saying she cheerished the center because it has to do with youth and children. Hon. Eghe Ogbemudia commended the Connected Advocacy for finding her worthy to be named after the center. She reiterated that since assumption of office, her policies and purpose are in tandem with the vision of Connected Advocacy.

"My local government has engaged 100 lollipop youths in developing Egor. The lollipop youths help in crossing children when going and returning from school. We copied the initiative from Europe, especially Uk. When I heard of a child that was knocked down at Okhoro axis, I was very sad.

"I am deeply honoured to have this center named after me and I will contribute my resources towards the growth of this center. I want to use this medium to advice youths to make good use of this center in empowering themselves", she said.

Speaking earlier, the Executive Director of the Connected Advocacy, Prince Israel Orekha said the center was to ensure that no one is left behind in the scheme of things in the State and to drive the expected change. He said the center will among other things, empower youths in the area of ICT and self-relient skills.

"We need to engage the people in life skills that will make them to discover themselves and impact the people. Edo State will be better if all of us contribute our part", Prince Israel Orekha said.

Lectures were delivered by Mrs. Grace Obakina on Safe Space for Youths and Comrade Amienye Omorogie on the Role of Youths in Economic Transformation through ICT.
