Edo Assembly C'ttee Hails Edo Varsity

IYAMHO - The Edo State House of Assembly Standing Committee on Education has commended the Acting Vice Chancellor of Edo University, Iyamho, Prof. Emmanuel Aluyor and his management team for the recent ranking of the University as the third best out of the 160 universities in Nigeria and best state university by the Nigerian University Commissiob (NUC) under the Open Educational Resources (OER).

The Committee Chairman, Hon. Foly Ogedengbe made the commendation during Committee's visit to the University in Etsako West Local Government Area, as part of their oversight functions to ascertain the state of the university in order to enable government tackle some of the major challenges that may be facing it

"It is not always easy to come thied among Nigerian universities for a school that is barely two years of existence; it is a record and we can only urge you to continue to do that thing which you are doing that hss brought the good result.

"I also want to congratulate the Acting VC because he has shown that he is capable to manage the university, as members of the management have shown that they are able to sustain the facilities they met and also improve on it", he said.

Speaking earlier, the Acting Vice Chancellor of Edo University, Iyamho, Prof. Emmanuel Aluyor said it was a major milestone coming within two years of existence, saying it is an indication that they are actually doing something right.

"I believe we are doing something right which has already been applauded, we want to promise that we will continue to move in that direction and hopefully, in the near future, we will not just be number three, we will be number one", he said.

Members of the committee were however taken on an inspection tour of the university to inspect all on-going and completed infrastructural projects within the university.
