Don't give up on the country, GPN urge Nigerians

The Green Party of Nigeria (GPN) has urged Nigerians not to give up on the country.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Chairman of GPN, Edo State chapter, Mr Roy Oribhabor, and made available to Newsmen in Benin on Monday.

The chairman who called on Nigerians  to uphold the principles of peaceful dispositions, appealed to the people to continually see themselves as one.

"Edo GPN is quite impressed with the dispositions of Nigerians and salute their determination for better society but appealed to them not to give up on Nigeria. he said.

"This is the position of the party from the weekend meeting of the GPN to review the state of the nation," he said.

Oribhabor also added that the Edo Chapter of the GPN called on Coalition for Nigeria Movement to embrace and identify with Green Party of Nigeria.

He said the call became necessary as the party offer the best platform for the movement to achieve its set out aims and objectives.

"Again, because the manifestoes of Green Party reflects the characteristics of coalition for Nigeria movement hence, the call for working understanding and subsequent endorsement of the movement by us.

"GPN​ is the only party that shares same ideology with the coalition therefore, using the platform of the party explains the popular expression of round peg for round hole.

"We call on coalition to join and embrace GPN as the only alternative platform to rescue Nigeria and Nigerians."

On the issue of restructuring, Oribhabor said having taken a cursory look at the recommendations made by the ruling party during the meeting, the Edo Chapter of rejected some of the recommendations.

He said of particular is that of recommendation on mineral resources and crude oil.

"This recommendations lacks the total submission of Nigerians and selfish therefore, Edo GPN reject the most curious recommendations on mineral resources and crude oil.

"We call on National Assembly not to accept the recommendations on mineral resources and crude oil, " Oribhabor stated.
