Presidential aide presents book on progressives Tuesday

The Special Assistant to the President on Research and Special Projects, Mr. Sylvester Imhanobe will formally present his much awaited book, Long Walk of the Progressives in Nigeria: Political Cases in Perspective to the public on Tuesday.

In a press statement issued in Abuja, chairman of the Local Organising Committee (LOC), Comrade Salihu Othman Isah disclosed that the 961 page book dedicated to the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is billed for presentation at the Shehu Yar’Adua Centre in the Federal Capital Territory by 11am-2pm.

Isah, who is the Special Adviser to the Honourable Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami,  SAN said the immediate past governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole will chair the occasion.

According to the LOC chairman, the book is written to salute the victory of the APC in the 2015 general elections. With former Minister of Information and ex-National Chairman of the Congress for Progressives Change (CPC), Chief Tony Momoh writing its foreword, the book which comes in ten chapters analysed critical political cases in the nation’s history.

Among the political legal tussles it x-rayed are the presidential elections from the time of Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) presidential flagbearer, Chief Obafemi Awolowo up to 2011 when then General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) of the CPC went up to the Supreme Court to upturn the victory of President Goodluck Jonathan.

With these as background, the author arrived at the conclusion that the judiciary since the pre-independence days has been unfair to the progressives in Nigeria.

Some of the dignitaries expected at the occasion include the Minister of Transport, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi as keynote speaker; Imo state governor and Chairman, Progressive Governors Forum, Owelle Rochas Okorocha as book presenter and Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed as Special Guest of Honour while Malami will serve as Chief Host.

The book presentation will have a tinge of political colouration with the APC South South Forum, FCT honouring Prince Abdulmalik Afegbua with the ‘Outstanding Political Leadership Award’ and Chief Abdulganiyu Lawani with the ‘Outstanding Political Excellence Award’.
