As a concerned Nigerian who doesn’t want to walk on Walter street Calabar in my Kaftan with the fear of been tagged a boko-haram and my desire for a better Nigeria, I think I should offer my own little advice to better GMB’s campaign. I am no media professional but I think the GMB media team needs to up its game.

My first advice to team GMB media team is to make sure GMB visits every state in the South during his campaign not just a campaign from Abuja. Through this it is certain GMB will meet the stakeholders in this part of the country. The stakeholders who are the voters in that part need to see the real GMB and what he is about.

Secondly, I advice you make before the election to talk GMB into visitng higher institutions of learning where about 60 percent of the nation’s young population are dominant and have conversations around his policies and they they expect of him if elected.

GMB once fought for Nigeria at the battle field. Encourage him, as a show of solidarity and support to visit the national joint task force at the battle line in the North-East. This will only show he means well for the nation as they have been a lot of negative press about him.

The members of the private sector should not be left out. Organise discussion programs with private sector stakeholders to create an understanding and synergy across board in terms of expectations on how to ensure further growth of the country’s economy.

There a lot of press people who are still not at peace with GMB for some of his decisions in his term as military head. I will urge team GMB to host a press conference to clarify his position on that period and assure the public of how certain things are not possible under democratic system.
In the same vein the people of the south-south need to be assured by GMB in person and not through mass media of his good intentions for the country, on why they should ditch ethnicity and embrace a nationalistic leader like him to better they region and all others in Nigeria. It will be difficult to convince them to abandon GEJ who is one of them but it is worth the try.

Eqaully, it is high time GMB come out and debunk the claim by some that he is a fanatic and intends to Islamize Nigeria. Even though this isn’t true, there are gullible people who run to the bank with such information. They need to be targeted and convinced otherwise. I don’t know how but team GMB has to find a way.

Moreso, design messages targetted at the masses who constitute 80 percent of voters encouraging them to get their Permanent voters card (PVC) abd if they are yet to register, they should do so and ensure they vote on the day of elections. As the only way to defeat the opposition is through massive voters turn out.

Finally, please advice GMB to come out and kick the ghost of post 2011 election off his back. Many people are of the opinion that he incited his followers into act of violence. He needs to clear this because even if the opposition organise such acts, they can still blame it on him.

Thanks for Reading. We remain #TeamBetterNigeria #TeamGMB
