Breaking News: Rep Sesi Whingan, lauds FG for reopening the Seme Border days after he lamented the effect of the closure in a television interview

Badagry: Hon. Sesi Oluwaseun Whingan, a  member of the House of Representatives representing the Badagry Federal Constituency, has praised the Federal Government for reopening the Seme Border in Badagry to vehicle importation. He said the reopening of the border is a good omen and a sign of the attention the constituency will receive from the current administration led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a phone conversation with a media house reporter, Sesi expressed his delight at the reopening of the Seme border. He noted that the border reopening came just a few days after he appeared on Channels Television's HardCopy interview with a renowned Badagry media personality, Maupe Ogun-Yusuf, in which he lamented the effects of the border closure on some Badagry youths who engage in legitimate cross-border businesses.

Recall that the Federal Government announced yesterday, through the Director of Road Transport in the Ministry of Transportation, Ibrahim Musa, that the government has approved the re-opening of the Seme border for vehicle importation.

Musa, speaking at the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) meeting organized between officials of Nigeria and Benin, said the development followed complaints by freight forwarders operating at the Seme border.

Sesi had also, in an interview last week, lamented the border closure and how it had marginally affected the people of Badagry, who engage in legitimate cross-border trade as their only source of livelihood. The young philanthropist turned politician expressed delight over the reopening of the land border in Seme.

"If you watch Channels Television, I was featured on a Hard Copy interview with Maupe sometime last week, where I lamented the border closure and how it has affected the majority of youths in my constituency who engage in legitimate cross-border trades." I am overjoyed that the federal government heard our cries and responded accordingly." This demonstrates that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration is a listening government, and it indicates that the Badagry Federal Constituency will receive more attention from the Federal Government."

"As I mentioned in the interview, my people back home have very high expectations." I will continue to work hard to bring meaningful development to my constituency. "I will continue to engage the powers; I will lobby and collaborate as needed to ensure Badagry reclaims its rightful place in terms of development and youth empowerment," he told the journalist over the phone.
