P4P in the Niger Delta, Edo State chapter elects new Executives

New executives have been elected to pilot the affairs of the Partners for Peace (P4P) in the Niger Delta, Edo State chapter for the next two years.

The election which was keenly contested saw Engr. Eugene J. Okoeguale emerged the State Coordinator. He defeated his opponent, Mrs Cynthian Bright Ebiere by 33 to 15 votes. Dr. Mrs. Eniye Omoluru beat her opponent- Comr. Enahoro Isaac, to emerge the Deputy Coordinator; Dr. Isaac Eranga- a journalist,  emerged the Secretary after defeating his opponent Joshua Igometi by 31 to 13 votes.

Others are, Pst. Mrs Maria Okoh, who scored 49 votes, (Treasurer); Barr. Clementina Raji (Financial Secretary, 37 votes); Comr. Christian Justice Ndukwu (Welfare Officer, 34 votes); Comr. Clement Isuro emerged the Public Relations Officer (38 votes); Ms. Anna Elunamhe Momeh also beat her opponent to become the Assistant Secretary (38 votes); while Pst. Mrs. Maria Obazuwa emerged the Research and Documentation Officer 33 votes)

Speaking shortly before the elections, the National Coordinator of Partners for Peace in the Niger Delta- Chief Pius Okomolafe urged members to practice what they preach as peace actors. He thanked them for the way they've maintained calm and urged members to join hands with whoever that wins, to move the Peacebuilding network forward.

Also speaking, the member representing Edo State in the Central Working Committee - Barr. Agatha Osieke described the elections as successful and promised to work with the newly elected excos in carrying out interventions that will be impactful on Edo people. Agatha who is the immediate past Coordinator of Edo P4P urged the new excos to carry all ambers along, saying there is power in unity.

Speaking, the newly elected Edo State  Coordinator of P4P- Engr. Eugene J. Okoeguale thanked members for voting him to lead them. He said the victory is a call for selfless service. He promised to operate an open door policy.

"We are going to leverage the experiences and expertise of all members in initiating and implementing interventions that will have lasting impact on the people of Edo State. This new exco is open to constructive criticism that will propel us to work harder. It's going to be a case of iron sharpens iron", he said.

Partners for Peace, is a network supported by the Foundation for Partnership Initiatives in the Niger Delta (PIND) whose mission is to build social capital around peacebuilding through amplifying the voices of positive actors, building a network of self-identified agents of peace, and leveraging that network through facilitation, small grants, and capacity building. This network includes thousands of stakeholders from civil society, community-based organizations, nongovernmental organizations, private companies, donor organizations, and the general public committed to promoting peaceable livelihoods in the Niger Delta.
