Edo Indigenous Movement felicitates with Benin Monarch over wife's delivery of quadruplets

The President and founder of Edo Indigenous Movements (EIM), also known as Edo Progressive Indigenous Association (EPIA), Dr Bishop Omogiade Enoyiogiere Edokpolo, has described as a sign of good things to happen to Edo people, the delivery of quadruplets from the fifth wife of Oba Equate 11, the Oba of Benin, Princess (Oloi) Esosa Ewuare II into the Benin Royal family.

Dr Bishop Omogiade Edokpolo said this while answering questions from newsmen in Benin City. He said the multiple births have attracted attention and that there was generally a great deal of fascination about the concept of more than one baby being born at the same time.

"Different cultures view multiple births in diverse ways. For us in Edo, multiples are seen as a blessing from God and a sign that they shared one soul which had been split between the two. We see their existence being attributable to the blessing from an almighty God.

"Edo indigenes both in diaspora and at home heartily felicitate with our monarch, especially as we prepare for our international cultural carnival coming up in January, 2022. EPIA has members in most of the countries of the world and is saddled with the responsibility of empowering Edo indigenes worldwide", the EIM leader said.

The Oba of Benin, His Majesty Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo Ewuare II Friday made the announcement at 4:57p.m in his palace when he received the national leadership of Immaculate Conception College Old Boys Association (ICCOBA). The monarch gave the sexes of the babies as three boys and one girl.

Recall that the Oba had in May 2020, welcome his first infant Prince after he ascended the throne of his forebears as the 40th Oba of Benin from her Royal Highness, Princess (Oloi) Iyayota Ewuare II.

Princess (Oloi) Esosa Ewuare II is the youngest among the wives of the traditional ruler.
